Tom O'Brien was the founding partner at O'Brien and Dekker law in 1997. He grew up in Rensselear, Indiana and attended the University of Miami where he received his undergraduate degree in 1978. He then attended Valparaiso University School of Law and graduated in 1982. Tom was admitted to Indiana Bar in 1982. Tom is Criminal Rule 24 Death Penalty Certified and is a Board-Certified Trial Criminal Attorney. He is a member of Indiana State Bar Association and American Bar Association. Tom is also a Former President of the Tippecanoe County Criminal Bar Association and was a part-time public defender with the Tippecanoe County Public Defenders Office for 37 years. Tom's areas of practice include criminal law, family law, personal injury, bankruptcy, and wils and estates. Tom has won various awards over the years such as 2009 Pro Bono Attorney of the year from the Indiana District 4 Pro Bono Corp and the 2016 Client Satisfaction Award from the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.
In his free time he enjoys playing golf, watching the Chicago Bears, spending time with his children, and traveling.
